Julia Gelfand wins 2023 Innovation in Access to Engineering Information Award

As part of the Engineering Libraries Division of the American Society for Engineering Education, the ELD Scholarly Communications Committee Subgroup, was awarded the Innovation in Access to Engineering Information Award. Chapter published!

Congratulations to Sara Heimann on the publication of her chapter in the book Teaching Business Information Literacy, published by ACRL. Sara collaborated with Summer Krstevska (Business, Economics & Data Access Librarian, Wake Forest University) on a chapter for the edited book of practice-based lesson plans and activities to support business information literacy instruction in academic libraries. The chapter, “More Than a Secondary Strategy: How to Actively Incorporate Primary Research into Your Instruction Session,” outlines a multi-part active learning exercise which seeks to increase entrepreneurs’ familiarity with best practices for conducting effective and ethical primary research.

Contributed to a publication about librarians on institutional regulatory boards & committees

John's contributions appear in "Expanding Opportunities for Librarians within Institutional Research Activities: Narratives of Engagement." This is a chapter in the book "Finding Your Seat at the Table: Roles for Librarians on Institutional Regulatory Boards and Committees," edited by Susan M. Harnett and Laureen P. Cantwell and published in February 2022.

Julia Gelfand Named to ALA PAG

Julia has been appointed to ALA's Philanthropic Advisory Group (PAG) for a term lasting 2021-2024. PAG's charge is to advance the philanthropic/fundraising activities of ALA, and to increase the level of external funding that supports the work of the Association. Congratulations, Julia!

Contributed to OCLC report "Total Cost of Stewardship: Responsible Collection Building in Archives and Special Collections"

Developed by the OCLC Research Library Partnership’s (RLP) Collection Building and Operational Impacts Working Group, Total Cost of Stewardship is a framework that proposes a holistic approach to understanding the resources needed to responsibly acquire and steward archives and special collections. The Total Cost of Stewardship Framework responds to the ongoing challenge of descriptive backlogs in archives and special collections by connecting collection development decisions with stewardship responsibilities. Audra served on the Collection Building and Operational Impacts Working Group and worked on the Communication Tools suite.
