Accessing Special Collections & Archives 

  • The Special Collections and Archives department office and stacks areas, including the University Archives, are located on the 5th floor in the Langson Library, LL500. The Southeast Asian Archive is located on the 3rd floor in the Langson Library, LL360.

  • Special Collections and Archives office and stacks areas are alarmed, high-security areas. The Southeast Asian Archive stacks area is open to patron browsing.

  • The only rooms accessible to the public and non-Special Collections and Archives staff are the reading rooms, unless accompanied by a member of our staff.
    • Library employees are subject to the same rules as the public in the use of the materials or the department.
    • Cleaning staff and non-library facilities employees can gain access to the department only during business hours and are not allowed to work in the department without staff supervision.

  • To consult with anyone who works in the department office, LL500, it is advisable that you call ahead to ensure that they are there to accompany you to their work area.

  • When entering the Special Collections and Archives reading room, stop and identify yourself to the reference librarian.
