Reclassification Process

The UCI Libraries, in coordination with Campus Human Resources, utilizes Fast Class, a Web-based system designed to replace the former paper-intensive reclassification system. Fast Class eliminates paper reclass requests, reduces review times, provides more tools and resources, and enhances communication among supervisors, reviewers, and employees.

The Libraries participate in the campus reclassification decentralization program. Under this program, the reclassification process for all library staff positions other than MSP positions is conducted entirely within the library. Lillian Gates, the Libraries' Assistant Human Resources Manager, provides support for the program, conducts analysis of the requests, and makes recommendations on the requests to the Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Administrative Services.  The AUL for Administrative Services has the authority to approve the classification and reclassification of all library staff positions other than MSP positions.
